our gardener
My name is Joana Dwomoh, loving gardening and nature was discovered by chance when I decided as a stay home mom to teach my kids where food comes from apart from then believing that it comes from the grocery store. Professionally I am a registered nurse. Through the process of gardening at home, I learnt so many things that inspired me to seek further education in food production. I went back to school to study sustainable and regenerative agriculture. I wanted to grow West African food because there is very little representation in that particular area. I have been growing food since 2013. I have been met with plenty of excitement, enthusiasm and joy from many costumers who are amazed to find food normally grown in West Africa locally grown here in Arizona.

Our Garden
Our philosophy here at Akan Hut Tropical garden is very simple.
It is to grow high quality, nutritionally dense fruits and vegetables normally found in the tropics and tropical West Africa sustainably.
The love we have for the beauty and awesomeness of nature have us grow food and care for our garden and especially the soil with regenerative and sustainability in mind.
we have set up a closed system with very little input from outside the garden involved. We do not use chemical fertilizer or chemical pesticides. Our fertilizers are organic. Our compost is homemade from plant residue. smart irrigation is applied to conserve Water.
Here at Akan Hut Tropical garden the quality and safety of our food comes from the quality of our soil. All measures are taken to ensure that our product is safe, clean and we take care of our soil with best management practice.
